I purchased the stainless steel continuous brewer “No Frills Package” with a simple heat strip. It arrived quickly and was packaged well.
It took around 45 minutes to put everything together: washing, attaching the spigot, assembling the stand.
I’m a complete newbie, having only brewed one batch with a friend’s SCOBY before this purchase. I’d never done a continuous brew, but I’d read the excellent “Big Book of Kombucha” book ahead of time so I felt (kinda) prepared.
The downloadable PDF instructions summarize the Big Book book well, but the step-by-step video series is great! Those videos provided lots of confidence and assume you have never brewed before. These folks *really* want to ensure you have success and covered all my questions/concerns in those videos.
I recently decanted my first batch from the brewer after 23 days, but found that it was a bit too sour. I should have decanted it earlier–at around 12 days–when it wasn’t so sour. At that time, I found it to be very smooth and yummy, and much tastier than the batches I’d made with my friend’s SCOBY (I suspect Kombucha Kamp’s SCOBYs make a better booch). I’m still learning the rhythms and my taste preferences, but I’m enjoying the whole process.
In wintertime, my home temperature hovers in the low 60s. If you maintain a chilly home, I highly recommend the heat strip. It keeps the brew at around 79 degrees, which is perfect.

I have been on a healing journey since 2011 when my doctor informed me that not only did I have a candida albicans infection but also the level in my blood topped what the test was able to record. I hadn’t realized how sick I was until we started to get the yeast under control. I was informed that I was allergic to yeast, molds, alcohol, vinegar and more. Consequently, I have had to strictly avoid yeast, alcohol, vinegar, all sugars, processed foods and more.
As part of my healing journey I have been fermenting my own organically grown cucumbers, carrots, beets and kimchi. Finally, this fall, I had a blood test that indicated that the yeast levels were under control and while kombucha has been recommended by friends, I was hesitant to try it. I found a Create your own culture kombucha from Door County Wisconsin, that was nicely sour and didn’t have added sugars. This label has kombuchakamp.com listed as a resource. After consuming a few bottles without any reaction, I started contemplating brewing my own but was still hesitant to make the commitment.
That is where Kombucha Kamp became a deciding factor for me. I was impressed with the amount of quality information on the website. I was trying to look around the Internet and check out other sources but when I realized that I kept coming back to Kombucha Kamp to see how the other information compared to what Kombucha Kamp had, Kombucha Kamp became my resource. I finally placed a small starter order and almost immediately regretted not getting a continuous brew kit. I did place the order for the continuous brew kit too.
My one gallon batch brew was started 9 days ago and with the temperature range between 77 and 82 degrees, it still tastes sweet so I will check again in two days. The 2.2 gallon 304 stainless steel vessel continuous brew KT has been brewing for 7 days. I peaked this morning and there is a nice looking SCOBY on top.
Not only was I impressed with the quality of the information
on the Kombucha Kamp website, healthy SCOBYs, starter teas and everything else that came with my orders I am also very impressed with the Customer Service. My orders arrived promptly. I also emailed photos of the first SCOBY and was reassured that my SCOBY was perfectly normal in less than 24 hours!!!!
In the meantime, I started watching YouTube videos and have become dismayed at the inconsistent information that is available. One of the things that I really appreciate about Kombucha Kamp is the scientific information that is included and the explanations why that are included in the videos. I feel confident in the information from Kombucha Kamp and I am very satisfied with the SCOBYs, orders and Customer Service support.

I recently switched from the batch method to continuous brewing with the arrival of my stainless steel canister along with two scobies and other goodies. My first attempt this way was with Hannah’s special brew and it turned out delicious. I’m still working on the timing when to decant into bottles with ginger and lemon and when to add fresh tea. I love the simplicity and time-saver of not rewashing the batch glass jar or handling the scobies every week. The heater is very powerful and it became too hot using the velcro band, so I just let it sit around the stand loosely and it maintains 80 degrees. So much easier than batch brewing! I have used stainless steel conical fermenters for home brewing beer for many years and I liked the idea of using it for Kombucha.
