Hello Kombucha Kamp fans, friends and family.

It is true, we have to vacate our warehouse as the monthly rent has become untenable and we’ve been losing 6 figures for the last few years, even with loans from the government.

I didn’t realize the extent of the damage done by changes in the Google algorithms and now I’m hearing that so many brands and small family businesses are in a similar situation – its as if we’ve been rendered invisible to more than 80% of potential clients.

While we have a loyal customer base, when you sell “magic seeds” aka fermentation starter cultures that reproduce on their own, it means that unlike supplements or even commercially sold Kombucha, we don’t have repeat customers as many of our products are “one and done” types of purchases.

Of course, in my imagination, as more and more people understood how crucial gut health is not only for digestive issues but also immunity and mental health, that of course more and more people would want to make their own Kombucha – as true as that may be, they simply are not able to find us.

So just buy ads! That’s giving in to the algorithm overlords. I’d rather give YOU the money (ie in our affiliate program) and rely on word of mouth vs paying out who knows how much money for ad spends. Or if we were to put ads on our site – which we have resisted for years even though many people only come here for information and don’t necessarily buy from us – and we are happy to provide that service – except that it means we have to transform.

So that is what we are doing – part of the medicine of this transition is ASKING FOR HELP – which is something I personally have a hard time doing. I am also OPEN TO RECEIVE – as a chronic overgiver, this is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.
